I'm David "Lefty" Leibowitz, and here are ten facts you didn't know about me:

1. I'm currently Director of Strategy at Organic. Check out my professional resume at LinkedIn.

2. I co-founded Gotham Girls Roller Derby, an all-female roller derby league that plays monthly during the season in New York. I still announce for them.

3. I co-founded the urban exploration group The Jinx Project. We wrote a book called Invisible Frontier: Exploring the tunnels, ruins, and rooftops of hidden New York and got it published by Random House. The book, which you can buy here, chronicles our adventures climbing the Manhattan and Queensboro bridges, exploring the subway tunnels under NYC, and investigating urban ruins. We also published a magazine, both online and print versions.

4. I've played in a bunch of bands over the years, but perhaps the highlight of my rock 'n' roll career was this night in Austin, TX when my band the Unliked opened for the great GG Allin & the Murder Junkies. GG's band had lost their equipment somehow, so the bass player borrowed my guitar and amp. It was practically the only piece of equipment that didn't end up getting destroyed.

5. I MC'ed for the Brothers Cup, a hip-hop trio that opened for Ice Cube and Cypress Hill and was the winner of the Austin Chronicle's "Best Rap Group" award in 1993 and 1994 (not saying much, I know.)

6. I spent a summer as a roadie for Shelter, the band comprised of luminaries from hardcore punk bands like Youth of Today, and Judge who decided they need something a little more intense than straight-edge and became Hare Krishnas. I ate lots of good Indian food that summer.

7. I was head referee for a Texan professional wrestling league. Ask me about when I was bit on the ass by Little Tokyo during a midget match, or when I got knocked out by the legendary Cowboy Bob Orton.

8. I played pedal steel guitar for Prince Lefty and His Ramblin' Kings for many years. We played monthly shows at Great Lakes in Park Slope, Brooklyn, covering 60's honkytonk standards by folks like Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, and George Jones.

9. I infiltrated San Cristobal de las Casas during the first Zapatista uprising in Chiapas, 1993.

10. These days I spend my time with my wife Emily, dog Champ, and cat Molly in Brooklyn, NY. We are expecting a baby girl in November. I also try to make time for ice hockey in the winter, surfing in the summer, and boxing all year round.
